Day 3: Genesis 6:1-9:29
Why do people act so badly when God has been so good? Generation after generation, humanity seems to keep falling deeper into the pits of violence, disobedience and selfish ambitions. God described the behavior of man as: "...That every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time."
God's heart was distressed over the reckless behavior of mankind, so much so that he was ready to obliterate them from the earth. He was sick and tired of their carelessness and lack of godly responsibilities and a total disregard for righteousness.
Many today are taking pages out of the playbook of long ago. Disobedience. Violence. Sexual misconduct. Murders. A disregard for God's Word.
God was ready to pull the decimation trigger until one man captured his attention. A man who "found favor in the eyes of the Lord." The man responsible for saving humanity is Noah. He is described as one who was "righteous and blameless among the people of his time and a man who walked with God."
Noah's willingness to live godly during a godless time it a testimony that not everyone is bent on living outside the boundaries of right living.
May we seek righteousness first and live life with the intentions of being the best we can be no matter what or who is around us.
