Don't Fly Off the Handle

Day 2: Genesis 4:1-5:32

Anger can destroy us. Jealousy can lead us down a path of no return. Hate will divide us and harm others without one ounce of regret. Lying will put a wedge between those who are lied about and the one who is being lied to.

Anger. Jealousy. Hate. Lying. All of these describes Cain in Genesis 4. Apparently, Cain did not get the rave reviews from God like his brother Able received. Cain merely gave God some of this crops as a farmer, while Able gave God some the best fat portions from his flock.

Cain's anger will boil over to the point that he plotted out a strategy to murder his brother. The lack of oohing and aahing from God sent Cain over the jealously edge and when hate filled his heart, his brother paid an awful price for worshiping God by giving him the best of the best he had.

Cain's heart was saturated with evil and he allowed his bad heart to murder his own brother.

Anger is not wrong in and of itself, but when one takes actions to hurt or harm someone, it is sinful. Ephesians 4 says, "In your anger, do not sin." Jealousy has no place in any relationship and hatred will destroy the best of us.

Give God your best and never be swayed to allow Satan to be in control.
