Day 5: Genesis 12:1-14:20
"Faith is a strong belief or trust in someone or something." Merriam-Webster
"Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1
Faith in God isn't always easy. Believing or trusting in someone that isn't visible to the eye or touchable to the hand seems nonsense and totally insane to many.
Faith does not come packaged with instructions on how it works. Faith is hard to do when God doesn't seem to notice or care or do what he promised he would do.
For countless people, faith takes hard work to get to a place of total acceptance and a willingness to follow God completely. It take work to develop the faith to pray to a God you can't see or talk to face-to-face or touch.
When God called a seventy-five year old man to pack it up and move to a country that he would later show him, takes more faith than I might have; but for Abram, it was a no brainer to head out of town with his family in the U-haul.
For Abram, faith is defined by his willingness to surrender and trust in God. Abram did not waver or argue with God's instruction. Abram simply got up and did what God told him to do. That's faith...Big faith.
As we seek to fine tune our faith, may we simply surrender to God and have the faith to believe that God can and God will take really good care of us no matter what we face or how hard life gets or where our next move might be.
