Freedom Isn't Free

Day 36:  Numbers 5:1-12; 1-2:16

Freedom.  It's a word full of hope.  Peace.  Joy.

For the the Israelites, freedom was hard to comprehend as they had to endure a lot from the moment they walked out of Egypt after 430 years of slavery.  The Hebrew people had to learn to trust God for survival.  Although they were enslaved, they also had meals, clothes and a place to live.

Freed.  It's a word full of sacrifice.  Pain.  Endurance.

Israel is now celebrating their 2nd annual Passover meal. The Passover celebration meant that they were free, but someone had to pay the price for the freedom.  Nine times, God told Pharaoh to free the Israelites out of slavery and nine times, Pharaoh resisted.  Finally, on the tenth time, God gave the final ultimatum and since Pharaoh said no, God took the lives of the first-born son of every Egyptian.  The price for resisting God was costly for the Egyptians, but it gave freedom to the Hebrew nation.

Christ is our hope.  Peace.  Joy.  Sacrifice. Pain.  Endurance.

We were lost and hopeless.  Our sins were getting the best of us and we were moving through life without the freedom we so desperately needed and wanted.  We needed a Passover of our sins, but had no clue how or who could be that perfect, defectless lamb who can set us free.

Great News!!! "Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don’t ever become slaves of the Law again." Galatians 5:1

Our freedom, meant Christ's sacrifice, pain and endurance to the awful beatings and the nailing to the cross and the separation he had to experience when his own Father had to look away due to bearing our sins.

Freedom is never free.  Freedom always has a price tag and mostly, someone dies in order for others to live.  Never take for granted your spiritual freedom.  Be thankful.  Grateful.  And, live your life in such a way that the sufferings of Christ will never be in vain.

Remember, Be God Controlled!
