Day 52: Leviticus 1:1:2:16 (various other Scriptures chronologically)
Burnt
offerings were the way that sins were forgiven for the Israelites. The
offerings could be a lamb, bird or a baked good. When the offering was
done right, it pleased God and the aroma was a satisfying fragrance to God
because the sin of the person was forgiven and the relationship was
mended.
Sin
is problematic. Sin separates us with God. Sin hinders
relationships with others. And, sin makes us selfishly unrighteous and
guilty. God spent a lot of time reiterating his requirements to Israel
when one of them sin. God wasn't going to tolerate bad behavior then; nor
will he tolerate it now.
Just as God provided
a method for Israel's sins to be forgiven, he also provides us a method,
too. "...God doesn't want anyone to be lost, but everyone to come
to repentance." 2nd Peter 3:9. God will not leave us without a
solution for us sins to be forgiven, the Apostle Paul said, "For what
the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God
did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.
And so he condemned sin in the flesh," Romans 8:3
Jesus' sacrifice
forgives us of our sins and now God is able to smell the pleasing aroma due to
our relationship being made right. "For we are to God the pleasing
aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are
perishing." 2nd Corinthians 2:15
From the beginning,
God has always provided a way for us to have a close relationship with
him. He doesn't like that sin separate us with him; nor does he like
having to back off due to our unrighteous living. God is always looking
out for us even when we are not watching how our behavior affects our
relationship.
Remember, Be God Controlled!
