Sin Gets God's Attention

 Day 43:  Numbers 25:1-18; 37:7-54

Disobedience gets God’s attention, quickly, but not in a good way.  It is true that God is gracious and merciful, but it is also truth that God will not tolerate behavior that goes against his values and moral conduct.

The Israelites keep finding themselves mired up in sin that ticks God off to the core.  When the men of Israel had sexual relations with the Moabite women, God burned with anger and had every man who sinned with the Moabite women killed.  Numbers 25:1-5

Many would say that God’s punishments were extreme.  God doesn’t need defending, but he gave ample warning to anyone who participates in sinful behavior would suffer the consequences.

Sin destroys our relationship with God and others.  Isaiah 59:2 declares that sin separates us with God.  Sin never makes God happy; nor is it a proud moment or one we should brag about.  Sin disappoints God and those we’ve sinned against.  Sin isn’t a bridge-builder; rather it blows the bridge up.

It is possible that we sugarcoat sin to fit in or be accepted or convince ourselves that it’s not so bad and one time won’t hurt us.  Sin is a powerful three-letter word that cannot be taken lightly.

When we sin, we must accept responsibility and ask God to forgive us.  Thankfully, our God is true to his word when we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgiven us and purify us. 1st John 1:9

Sinning will happen because we are not perfect, but we must never abuse the grace of forgiveness.  Romans 6:1  When we are tempted to sin, we must pray ourselves out of it.  God will hear us and will provide us with an opportunity to get out.  Stay focused on living righteously and don’t get anywhere near situations that will take us down a sinful path.

God is rooting us on.  He loves us mostly and wants the best relationship possible.

Remember, Be God Controlled!
