It is Time Christians Come Out of Spiritual Hibernation

Day 38 Numbers 10:1-11:35

As I look out my home office widow, I see evidence that the wind is blowing.  The sun is showing off.  Music is playing.  My mind has a million thoughts, if not more.  I'm reading in Numbers 11.  It's about complainers.  They are not satisfied with the food God provided, so they want something different...better...a variety....meat, preferably.  I can understand a bit of needing a variety of food.  I guess I would get tired of eating the same food day after day for over a year, too.

The news today was a bleak as always.  The pandemic is still dividing our nation.  Russia is on the brink of invading Ukraine.  The Winter Olympics are in full swing in China.  The vile of America keeps raising its ugly head as crime and murders are on track to break last years record.  Cops are being shot and killed in unprecedented numbers.  Moral decay.  Unethical practices.  Political prejudice.  Spiritual hibernation.

Facing reality is critical.  No sugarcoating.  No watering it down.  No pretending.  No. No. No.

Spiritual hibernation is real!  It's Jesus followers packing it up and going into seclusion to get away from the national turmoil we are experiencing.  Instead of tackling the problems of domestic violence, homelessness, smash and grab crimes, hate filled rants, Jesus followers are seemingly taking a hands off approach.  We practice separation of crime and church or violence and church or hate and church.  We've given way to the thugs who are bent on hurting others rather than finding solutions to clean up our communities.

We pride ourselves on having great ministries that attract fellow believers, but there are not many ministries that address homelessness, crime, family abuse, poverty or prejudice.  We put our dollars into our facilities rather than into the community to make them safer, spiritual, hope-filled and God honoring.

Some will like this post, while others will think I am out of touch or too negative.  What I am is a realist. I live in reality.  While I do believe many church communities are doing positive ministries, the issue lies in the fact that the church has become so competitive with each other, that we've lost sight of unity as believers so much so, that we are losing our communities to the hating and vile thugs.

It is time we rise up.  It is time that Jesus followers unify and work together to clean-up the destructive path that Satan continues to leave behind.  It is time that we stop being Church of Christ and Baptist and Methodist and Church of God and and and!  It is time that we rally together to be one in Christ so that our nation will become a "One Nation Under God!"

It is time to come out of spiritual hibernation and take to the streets of our communities and be Jesus, light, salt, love, hope, peace, grace, truth!

It is time we live out Psalm 133:1, "How good and pleasant it is when brothers and sister live together in unity."

It is time!

Remember, Be God Controlled!
